Scriptures / Sacred Text
AztecTheir Native language was called Nahuatl, which was also the language of most of Mexico. Unfortunately, their writing was easily misunderstood my those outside of the Aztec culture. Writing was called Mixtec, which used dots to count numbers less than twenty and images(logogram) to help with the imagery of a word. For these logograms, there could be more than one meaning as not every mind thought the exact same. There were three main focuses for the writing, the first was to keep track of math calculations, another was to mark down important dates and lastly, to write down the names of people and places. Writings in Nahuatl were written down on perishable media and most were destroyed by both Aztecs and Spanish conquistadores, as well as ravages over time.
